A BE HEADSMART, SENIORS! PROJECT

In 2009 the Walking Buddies Project found new life, uniting students majoring in health studies with seniors from their communities for weekly walks. The project benefits participants on several levels. Physical fitness and valuable social interaction are combined with a curriculum that stresses fall prevention and brain injury awareness.

Below are links and downloads to all training materials for students, instructors and seniors participating in the Walking Buddies Project 2009-2010:

Click here to listen to the 50-minute Teletraining Recording (mp3).
Teletraining will be available November through January 24/7 for the Spring Walking Buddies with FAMU, NWFSC, UNF and Shands Rehab at Magnolia Parke at UF. Please be sure to answer all demographic questions as these are recorded and tracked. Demographic information collected will be used to issue and mail certificates, and track the universities and senior centers participating, and will not be used in conjunction with recording scores from the evaluations. Once this training is completed you will receive an email from your Intern Specialist with additional instructions. Certificates will be mailed to the university and students will be able to pick them up in the location designated by their Intern Specialst. Thank you.
