OVERVIEW

The goal of the Education Program is to make high-quality education and training about traumatic brain injury and its consequences available to a wide variety of audiences. BIAF has educational courses available for many professionals including nurses, doctors, emergency medical services personnel, law enforcement officers, and safety educators, as well as the general public. Links to videos and pdf versions of educational materials are provided below. Most materials are provided free of charge.

Learning About Traumatic Brain Injury - The Silent Epidemic (video)
This 30-minute basic course uses clips from the Faces of Brain Injury video with first-hand accounts of how lives are changed by brain injury. Covers basic traumatic brain injury terminology, types and common causes, and explores physical, cognitive and psycho-social effects. Information on resources and agencies providing services in Florida for people with TBI is covered as well. The video is suitable for self-study and workshop settings, or for anyone wishing to become familiar with TBI. Download pdf version.

Faces of Brain Injury (video)
Eight minute video highlights in their own words the real-life experiences of people who have sustained a brain injury. Individuals of all ages, races, genders, and economic backgrounds come together to speak about brain injury and living with the long-term consequences. Great learning and teaching tool. Can stand-alone or supplement other courses.

Making Life Work After a Brain Injury
Addresses issues involved in-home care. Three families with severely injured members discuss how they’ve used structure, repetition and consistency to help the recovery process continue. Excellent for group discussion as well as individual family interaction and planning.

Vocational Rehabilitation Community Capacity Building Project
The goal of this project is to assist and enhance community based rehabilitation providers build capacity to better serve the vocational needs of individuals with traumatic brain injury. Our mission is to build a coalition of statewide experts who specialize in serving the unique needs of individuals with TBI. More Information
